The League began in 1982, John Lodge (Garforth C/Club)and Cliffe Jones
contacted the following.
                      Jack Dobson    (Micklefield)
                      Graham Goodman (Grove Road)
                      Mike Carroll   (Whitkirk)
                      John Rose      (Thorner)
These 5 clubs formed the Garforth Junior League.  A meeting was held in the Garforth C/Club. The Committee were as follows,

                    John Lodge      Gen. and Match Sec,
                    Graham Goodman  Chairman,
                    Cliffe Jones    President.

The league started on the 11th April 1982, and By the end of the season the following honours were handed out.

                    Runner Up.                Micklefield,
                    League Averages    J.P. Rose (Thorner)
                    Runner Up.               W Garbut  (Micklefield)
                    Merit Winner       J.P.Rose  (Thorner)
                    Runner Up.               M Luford  (Micklefield)
These two players are still bowling.

** The league has continued on ever since, growing in size during the mid 80's.   However by the end of the 90's the number of clubs entering teams had declined until we have the six that can be seen today.

** Hopefully the passage of time will once again see our junior league increase in the number of teams entering, as it is these players who make up the bowling world of the future.
